Headhunter Diaries ~ Almost 1 Month. My Thoughts.

Well, it’s almost been a full month since I’ve joined FGP Technology as a Recruiter. It’s been a fast month too! I’m no longer the new person anymore as we just had a new Healthcare Recruiter join up this past week. Yay!

I’m definitely becoming more comfortable on the phone. Right now I’m averaging about 1 hr and 30 minutes on phone time plus or minus. It’s pretty low right now and my goal is to have that up to 2-3 hours within the next month or two. Gotta have goals!

I’m still grasping the marketing side of things and have had some basic success in getting into companies to talk to the IT managers or hiring managers. Most of the time it’s a leave-a-voicemail process. That’s ok. I’m persistent and I’ll keep calling back until I get a live body on the other end. :)

I’m also starting to talk to some of the pros - and by that I mean the Consultants and Recruiters who have been doing this for a few years and are successful. As I get tips and advice I’ll be posting it here from time to time. One piece that I think is pretty good is from one of the Accounting Consultants. He says that when in doubt, pick up the phone. I like that. No matter what the technology is that we have to use it still boils down to picking up the phone and talking to the person. I have found that I am getting better at picking up the phone and calling rather than emailing.

Once again I’m being stretched and challenged every day and I’m enjoying every minute of it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Our newly planted Columbines are just starting to bud. I love seeing nature coming to life in the spring. Reminds me of our Great God.
