Frustations. Frustrations.
If you would have asked me 2 weeks ago how I thought some of my candidates were doing in the job interview process and potential to land a placement I would have been really positive and upbeat. After all I had one candidate get a verbal commitment saying an offer was coming and I had 3 other candidates that looked really sharp for another company and I was hoping they would get a telephone interview from that client really soon.
Well, here’s what’s happened in the meantime.
Lost 1 candidate of the 3 that I’ve submitted to one client. The client is taking so long to even get back with them the one candidate took another offer. I’m about to lose another one as well due to the fact this person needs to find a job and can’t hold on forever. Grr! The big behemoth that our client is (and it’s a huge one to boot…headquartered in Arkansas…) is moving soooo slooooow. It’s very frustrating.
Today was the 2nd frustrating thing with my other candidate that came up for an interview, got a verbal commitment from the hiring manager and then nothing.

That’s the silence over the last 2 weeks and today we found out why. The client offered someone else that position and what’s worse is that it was to someone in our company…ARGGGGGGGHHHH!!! So now I have to call my candidate who has been excited over this whole process and try to salvage what’s left and even see if he is interested in another position with this company. My gut feeling is that he’ll say no and move on.
Talk about frustrating.
You know what’s cool about all this? I’m not worried one bit. Sure it was a rough day at the office but that’s part of the sales cycle and recruiting cycle. You’ll have speed bumps and mishaps come up from time to time. The key is - will you bounce back, wipe the dust off your pants and keep moving forward? Many times when something like this happens people quit or go do something ‘easier’. Not me. It means that I just work harder and find more jobs to fill.
It’s a small setback but it’s not the end of the world. My God is good and He’s always taken care of me and my family.
What a blessed hope that is!
